Wine Description
Aroma | It shows aromas of elegant black fruits with spicy notes, as well as hints of ginger biscuits and liquorice. |
Color | Intense cherry red colour and medium depth. |
Palate | The soft and rich entry leads to a powerful mouthfeel and a light volume. The velvety tannins harmonise perfectly with the fresh and well-integrated acidity. We also find creamy and vanilla notes mingling with fresh fruit. |
Overall result | A perfect wine to drink now, but one that will continue to develop well in the years to come. |

Criticism
Luis Gutierréz the critic Robert Parkers wrote in 2022: "The most classic of their wines, the 2015 Prado Enea Gran Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, mostly from Rioja Alta (Sajazarra, Cellorigo and Fonzaleche), with the Garnacha coming from different plots in the high altitude zone of Tudelilla. These grapes are always harvested last, but the wine has a similar alcohol content to the rest, around 14.5% in a warm year like 2019. The working method is similar to the other top cuvées - harvest in 200-kilogram boxes, destemming, optical sorting and fermentation in small oak barrels with indigenous yeasts. The ageing period in this case is extended to 36 months and the barrels are only 10% new. This is my favourite Muga wine year after year. In this powerful and ripe year, the late-harvested vines matured thoroughly and delivered a whole range of aromas and flavours, so the wine has a lot of depth and complexity. It has a very classic profile, with incipient tertiary notes, perfumed, floral and rich, structured and beautifully balanced. They compare this 2015 to the 2009 and 2005 in terms of style, but with a freshness in the style of 2001 and 2010. It is enjoyable, but should develop for a long time in bottle. One of Prado Enea's best vintages, 108,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in November 2018. There is no 2012 or 2013. There will be a 2016 and 2019, but no 2017 or 2018. 2020 is still a question mark, they haven't decided that yet." |
