Wine Description

Aroma Intense, fruity, juicy, with notes of leather and tobacco. Ripe dark fruits like cherries and plums as well as floral notes. The wine is already a real pleasure on the nose.
Color The wine has an intense cherry red colour with violet reflections.
Palate Velvety texture, noticeable, though not too strong tannins, mild acidity and a distinctly powerful body create a full-bodied and balanced taste experience. Pronounced fruits such as blackcurrant, blackberries, sufficient length and silky, strong tannins.
Overall result An intense, concentrated, fruity, complex wine, balanced and with a silky texture. Not the cheapest from Palacios but worth every euro. Pure drinking pleasure.
Match with

Goes well with dishes with a lot of umami. Pork neck with sautéed apples, grilled chicken with apricot glaze, duck breast with figs or a nice juicy burger.

If you are now wondering what burgers have to do with gourmet, you really must take a look at the book "Burger Unser" by Messrs Tzschirner, Lecloux, Vilgis, Jorra and Knecht, who show in this book that a burger can also have class and be sophisticated. Our recommendation for this wine would be from the book of burgers "El Torro" from page 124.

Criticism

Luis Gutierréz the critic Robert Parkers wrote in 2021:

"The 2018 Les Terrasses Velles Vinyes is a blend of 55% Garnacha with 44% Cariñena and 1% white grapes. The destemmed and lightly crushed grapes were fermented in concrete and oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, and the wine was aged in barriques for 13 months. It retains the more rustic side of their wines, but with the finesse of 2018. It's a wine with a high Cariñena content, but it's velvety, fresh and harmonious, but with dustier tannins. This is the British farmer, rustic but elegant, with his Land Rover, Wellington boots, corduroy trousers and a Barbour jacket.... But with a hint of Priorat. 126,000 bottles produced."
