Luis Gutierréz the critic Robert Parker writes:
"I love the luscious and expressive 2017 La Cueva del Contador, a taste of what's to come with big brother in this difficult year. It's floral and perfumed, elegant and powerful, with some spicy oak and a surprisingly velvety texture, with superfine tannins and great purity and balance. Here you don't feel the 15% alcohol, all components are harmonious. Like the rest of the red wines, it was fermented in oak barrels with local yeasts and aged in new barrels, in this case for 19 months. He reminded me of the brilliant 2012. I consider it a real triumph over the year's adverse conditions. 12,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in June 2019."
