"The 2018 Hacienda Monasterio, the wine previously referred to as Crianza, is a blend of 80% Tinto Fino, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 2% Malbec, harvested from their 100 hectares of organically certified vineyard in the western part of Ribera del Duero Fermentation was traditional, destemmed and carried out in 8,000 liter stainless steel tanks (as opposed to the 20,000 liter tanks of 2016) with native yeasts The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, 25% of which were new .This wine represents the character of the winery, including all the grapes.It's still a little young,creamy,a little biting with cereal notes,juicy and with tannins but balanced.This vintage has great balance and freshness but for the moment it's mine still a bit too oaky - but it should develop well in the bottle They are in the process of replacing the Merlot with Malbec because they think Malbec works well in the Ribera del Duero. 220,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in June 2020."
