Wine Description

Aroma Dominant aromas of dark fruits like cherry, plum and wild berries. Then further aromas of vanilla, leather and chocolate come to the fore..
Color Intense, deep cherry red with garnet reflections.
Palate Due to its dominant tannins, the wine should have the opportunity to breathe for 20-30 minutes, which will soften them and harmonise very well with its acidity. It has a moderately pronounced body and a good structure.
Overall result At first, the Labastida 2016 appears rough due to the tannins present, with the simultaneous presence of a medium concentration of acidity. The wine is a delight: harmonious, balanced and of silky texture. Awarded by critics. A very good value for money.
Match with ...smoked ham, a strong cheese, braised meats but also short roasts and grilled meats.

Luis Gutierréz the critic Robert Parkers wrote in 2020:

"The 2016 Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida from a bountiful year matured in a combination of barriques of different origins and was aged for 13 months. It has some maturity, integrated alcohol, good balance and a nice expression on the nose. It shows more restraint than the wine from San Vicente. I find that the vintage reflects the character of each village well, and this time I prefer the Labastida again. It has a nice thread on the palate, a velvety texture with very fine tannins. 53,927 bottles were produced. It was bottled in April and May 2018."
