Luis Gutierréz the critic Robert Parkers wrote in 2020:

"The 2018 La Montesa quality/award winner is now 100% Garnacha from organically farmed vineyards on the 100-hectare family estate that gives the wine its name. It was fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks and aged in barriques that are 85% French oak and 50% American oak. It feels very young and the oak is still present; and the American oak, which is spicy and smoky, with ashy incense and vanilla with some sweet undertones, gives it a character that brings back the character of the traditional wines of yesteryear in a very clean way. It has a lively freshness and should develop well with a few years in bottle. It has great purity and typicity, less Mediterranean than the 2017, beautifully structured and velvety. I think the breakthrough for this wine was the 2015 vintage, containing all the grapes that would have been used for the Propiedad label, which was not bottled separately in 2018. It has the EU organic label. The quantity they produce is impressive: 700,000 bottles. They started bottling from a single master blend in April 2020. I tried one of the first bottles."
