Wine Description

Aroma: Dark fruits like cherry, plum and redcurrant. Toasted notes are also present, but they remain discreetly in the background without overpowering the fruit notes.
Color: Transparent cherry-coloured wine with violet reflections.
Palate: Despite its well-developed body, La Vendimia is one of the lightest wines from Rioja, which is due to the destemming of the grapes and the short maturation period in oak barrels. It has a mildly pronounced acidity that gives it structure.
Overall result: The La Vendimia vintage 2019 is a harmonious and uncomplicated red wine, which is suitable for a variety of occasions due to its excellent price/performance ratio.
Match with: Dark and white meat, terrains, hearty, mature cheeses, braised dishes and mushroom dishes.

Criticism

Luis Gutierréz the critic Robert Parkers wrote in 2021:

"The young 50/50 blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo from the Alfaro area of Rioja is the 2019 La Vendimia. It will be bottled from mid-July 2020, after four months of ageing in oak barrels to give it more complexity while maintaining the wine's freshness and original character. On the nose, it combines the floral character of the Garnacha with the more serious profile of the Tempranillo, the two working well together. It is juicy and lively, medium to full-bodied and has 14.3% alcohol, reflecting the heat and dryness of the year. It has attractive aromas and flavours that are refined and elegant, with notes of flowers and red fruits and with very fine tannins that give it a silky texture. The mouthfeel is quite soft, with integrated acidity; it does not reflect the extreme conditions of the year and seems nicely balanced. There will be 337,000 bottles of this vintage."
